Web Design Process for Themes
These are the steps for building a website template or theme.
Step 1
THEME SELECTION
I will send you five themes to review. I look for themes that have been recently updated, have good reviews, and are built by reputable developers. Keep in mind that themes are just an baseline to build upon. I will be art directing the theme to match your business and branding.
Step 2
DESIGN DOCUMENT
Once a theme has been selected, I will send to you a homepage design document to gather all necessary information to start building the first page of your website, along with all of your contact information and color preferences.
Step 3
HOMEPAGE REVIEW
After completing the homepage, I will send you a link to review. We can make any necessary edits or changes. I will now need the content for the inside pages, unless we are writing the content for you.
Step 4
WEBSITE COMPLETION
When the website is complete and has been tested for both desktop and mobile environments, I will have you review the website once more for any final edits or tweaks.
Step 5
WEBSITE LAUNCH
Upon final approval, It is now time to launch your website! I will coordinate with you to get your hosting and domain information. If you do not have this yet, I will guide you on the best hosting companies to work with.
Step 6
HAND-OFF & TRAINING
Now that your website is live, it’s time to hand the keys over to you. I will send you a final email which will contain your website login, a training document, and information on website maintenance.

Web Design Process for Custom Designs
These are the steps for building a custom website design.
Step 1
2 HOMEPAGE DESIGNS
The first step to designing a custom website is to establish the overall look & feel. Since the homepage is the most important page of your website, that is where we will start. In step 1, I will design your homepage two different ways, using your content. This will give you two different solutions for layout, graphic language, typography, and color strategy.
Step 2
INTERIOR PAGE DESIGN
Once a homepage design has been selected, the inside pages will be designed next. This will be an extension of the homepage design, with various layouts to be given based upon the provided content.
Step 3
DESIGN APPROVAL
All pages will be provided for a final design review. Any remaining edits to design will be completed during this phase. Once the design is approved, it will now move to the development phase.
Step 4
DEVELOPMENT
The approved design will now move to the build phase, or development. This will be built in a staging environment and tested on all devices for compatibility. After passing our QA checks, a link will be shared with you for review and approval.
Step 5
WEBSITE LAUNCH
With your final approval, It is now time to launch your website! I will coordinate with you to get your hosting and domain information. If you do not have this yet, I will guide you on the best hosting companies to work with.
Step 6
HAND-OFF & TRAINING
With your website now live, it’s time to pass control over to you. I’ll send a final email including your website login details, a training document, and maintenance information.
