When you are working with a WordPress theme, the design of the site is mostly determined. It is now a matter of rebranding it to match your brand language, and incorporate your content and photography where needed. A WordPress theme takes about 2 weeks to complete, however there will need to be some involvement from you in the beginning.

Since WordPress is open source, that means anyone can use it, design it, or build it. There are thousands upon thousands of themes to choose from, but I will narrow this down for you. I will provide to you 5-7 website designs to choose from. Once you have selected the one you like, I will put together the design document and we will be on our way!

Why Build a WordPress Site Using a Theme?
Building a WordPress website using a theme is both faster and more economical than building a custom site. There are thousands of themes that are out there for purchase, many of which will work beautifully for your business. The true KEY when building a website using a theme is that you have it ART DIRECTED. That means that you don’t just throw the theme up as is and call it good. A lot of developers do this, because they are JUST developers. They are not designers. A designer will look at a theme for its structure, but then be able to tailor it so that it matches both your brand and aesthetic. This is where a lot of “developers” get into trouble because they don’t have the eye for what looks good, and how to modify when needed. The end result is often a website that is lackluster and falls flat creatively. When I build a WordPress website for you using a theme, I FIRST make sure that we have a design to work from that we both agree on, and then modify and brand it from there. There are no surprises, I will show you the design BEFORE I begin. This method that I use is highly successful and results in beautiful websites that my clients are thrilled with.
How do I pick a theme?
I will help you with this. Not all themes are created equal, and many of them are built quite poorly. I am here to weed out all the bad ones and only show you the good ones! When searching for themes, I typically use ThemeForest. I filter them by 4 start ratings and above. The most important feature I look for though is when it was last updated. Many themes fall out of date because the developers stop supporting them. I look for themes that have been updated in the last four months or less. I also look to see how long the theme has been around, and how many updates it has received. Lastly, I am familiar with certain builders/developers and have a list of names that I trust.
How long does it take to build a WordPress theme?
There are a lot of variables to this question, but the short answer is 2-3 weeks, assuming I have all content and assets from you. I will provide a list of everything I need from you in order to begin. There will be a fair amount of information I will need from you in the beginning of the project. Once I have what I need, I will build out the site and then send you a development link to review before we make it live.
What do you mean when you say “content”?
Content is essentially the “words” or “messaging” that is on your website. A homepage will have 500+ words, while an inside page will have 250+ words. If you are comfortable with writing the content for your website, that is fantastic, and I will give you a list of everything that I need from you. If you do not have the time or simply the want to write the content for your website, I can help you with this. Written website content is $150 per page.
What is a domain? What is hosting?
Your domain is the URL that your website lives on. It is your www.ThisIsMyWebsite.com address that people will input in order to find your website.
Your hosting is the place that stores all of your files where your website “lives” in order to have your website online. I do offer hosting, which is ideal if you decide to do a maintenance plan for your website. You can see my hosting here.
